What we treat

Sports injuries we treat

ACL injury rehabilitation

Whether you have had an ACL reconstruction or are managing a tear without surgery, we take you through every phase: settling swelling, getting the knee fully straight, rebuilding quadriceps and hip strength, then running, jumping and change-of-direction drills before return to sport.

Meniscus tear & ligament injuries

Meniscus tears and knee ligament sprains respond well to graded loading, knee control training and balance work. Together with your orthopaedic doctor, we help you decide whether conservative rehab or surgery suits your knee.

Ankle sprain treatment

A badly managed sprain often leads to the ankle repeatedly giving way. We control swelling early, restore movement, then focus on balance and strength so the ankle is stable for running and sport.

Tennis elbow & golfer’s elbow

Pain on the outer or inner elbow comes from overloaded forearm tendons, common in racquet players, gym-goers and people who type or lift a lot. Progressive tendon loading, manual therapy and grip advice settle it without repeated injections.

Runner’s knee

Pain around the kneecap usually reflects how load is managed through the hip, knee and foot. Strength work, running technique and training-load changes get you running comfortably again.

Hamstring injury & muscle strains

Hamstring, calf and groin strains are common in cricket, football and sprinting. A staged programme of strengthening and sprint drills reduces the high re-injury rate these strains are known for.

Shoulder injury & rotator cuff rehab

From rotator cuff tendinopathy and impingement to rehab after a dislocation, we restore shoulder mobility and build the cuff and shoulder-blade strength needed for bowling, throwing, swimming and lifting.

Gym & cricket injuries

Lower back strain from deadlifts, shoulder pain from bench press, side strains and fast bowler’s back pain: we treat the injury and correct the technique or training load that caused it.

Our approach

From injury to return to sport

  1. 01

    Sports-specific assessment

We look at the injury and at how you move: strength, flexibility, balance and the demands of your sport.

  2. 02

    Early pain & swelling control

Manual therapy, taping and electrotherapy where helpful, plus protected movement so you do not lose fitness.

  3. 03

    Strength & conditioning

Progressive loading, plyometrics and agility work, drawing on Dr. Bhawana’s background as an aerobic and fitness trainer.

  4. 04

    Return-to-sport testing

Objective strength, hop and agility tests before you go back to full training and matches.

Questions patients ask

Sports injury: your questions answered

How long does ACL rehab take?

After ACL reconstruction, most people return to jogging at around 3 to 4 months and to cutting and pivoting sports such as football, badminton or basketball at about 9 to 12 months, once they pass strength and hop tests. Returning before 9 months is linked with a higher risk of re-injury. Rehab without surgery follows a similar staged path, guided by how stable and strong the knee becomes.

What does a sports physiotherapist do?

A sports physiotherapist diagnoses and treats injuries to muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons, and builds rehabilitation around the demands of your sport. That includes hands-on treatment, strength and conditioning, taping, technique correction and return-to-sport testing, as well as advice on preventing future injuries. You do not need to be a professional athlete: we treat gym-goers, runners and weekend players too.

Should I use ice or heat on a new sports injury?

For the first day or two after a sprain or strain, relative rest, gentle movement within comfort, compression and elevation help, and ice can ease pain for short periods. Heat suits stiffness and muscle tightness later on. If you cannot put weight on the leg, see swelling within minutes or heard a pop, get the injury assessed early.

When can I go back to the gym after an injury?

Usually you can keep training the uninjured parts of your body from the start. We give you a modified gym plan and add load back to the injured area step by step, based on pain and strength rather than just the number of weeks that have passed.
